Steel Surface Quality Detection System


Overview

Steel surface quality detection system is based on photogrammetry and digital image processing technology, applying laser velocimetry technology and photogrammetry technology to complete defect detection of upper and lower sides of steel plate. In the process of measurement, CCD cameras gather images of upper and lower sides of steel plate and transfers them to the computer. The computer uses image processing algorithms to extract the measured object and form geometric elements, and eventually calculate the actual size of geometric elements through processing of photogrammetry. For non-geometry testing, such as steel surface defects, which can be detected by digital image processing and analysis method, errors are excluded through analysis of measured geometry information and eventually the accuracy of testing result is improved.

The system is suitable for testing the quality of steel top and bottom surfaces of various types of iron and steel enterprises.

Features

4.Data output:timely and comprehensively output of defect images, sizes, areas, directions and categories, and can be historically recorded. Be able to automatically generate reports and achieve operation of integrated quality data network.

Economic Benefit Analysis

The surface quality of steel plate is one of the most important elements. However, the issue of steel surface defects impedes production and sales of steel enterprises. The steel surface detection system is not only able to identify defects of steel surface, but also is able to classify and locate defects (such as bubbles, heavy leather, mixed, scars, scratches, indentation and etc.) as well as promptly notify upstream to avoid such defects. Defect detection of steel surface will bring huge economic benefits in the aspects of rolling qualified steel sheets, improving quality, reducing waste rate, and saving costs.

For example, a production line with capability of 1 million tons per year, assume it is not able to promise that there is no defects with its products, thereby $10 to $20 dollar discount per ton is given. As a result, there is $10 million to $20 million loss per year. If the enterprise is able to promptly find the defective products and take immediate corrective measures during the rolling process, it can not only greatly increase the rate of qualified products, but also can ensure the delivery in time.
